Based on a short story by popular author Maeve Binchy, How About You tells the story of a young woman, Ellie, left in charge of a residential home, owned and run by her older sister Kate, over the Christmas Holidays. Her youth and inexperience bring her into bitter conflict with four of the older residents who have been left behind: retired stage beauty Georgia, spinster sisters Hazel and Heather and a reformed alcoholic judge, Donald. The film deals with the hilarious antics of these uncivilized seniors, the gradual solidarity that develops between the residents and Ellie..... and an unlikely romance.

The film starred Vanessa Redgrave (Howards End, Blow-Up, Mission: Impossible), Hayley Atwell (The Duchess, Cassandra's Dream, Brideshead Revisited), Joss Ackland (Lethal Weapon 2, The Hunt for Red October, The Mighty Ducks), Brenda Fricker (My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown, A Time to Kill, Angels in the Outfield) and Imelda Staunton (Much Ado About Nothing, Vera Drake, Chicken Run).

It was filmed on location in County Down and County Wicklow.
