SIR MICHAEL CAINE IS

 HARRY BROWN. 

 

Set in modern-day Britain, HARRY BROWN tells the story of an ex-serviceman (Sir Michael Caine) who finds his community fall victim to drugs, crime and violence. A modest law-abiding citizen, Harry is a recent widower, with only his best friend Leonard (David Bradley) for company.  When Leonard is brutally murdered by a vicious gang of thugs, the police are powerless to act. To avenge the murder Harry feels compelled to dispense his own forms of justice.   


 

 

SIR MICHAEL CAINE (The Dark Knight, The Italian Job) is joined by Emily Mortimer (Lars and the Real Girl, The Pink Panther), Charlie Creed-Miles (The Fifth Element, Skins (TV)), and Liam Cunningham (Hunger, The Wind That Shakes the Barely), with support from a group of up-and-coming British talent including British rapper Plan B aka Ben Drew (Adulthood), Jack O’Connell (Eden Lake), Lee Oakes (Two Pints of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps), Joseph Gilgun (This Is England) and Sean Harris (24 Hour Party People).  David Bradley (Harry Potter, Hot Fuzz) and Iain Glen (The Diary of Anne Frank, Kingdom of Heaven) also star.

 

 

HARRY BROWN was written by Gary Young (Shooters, Spivs), and directed by Academy Award® nominee Daniel Barber (The Tonto Woman).  The director of photography was Martin Ruhe (Control). HARRY BROWN is produced by Kris Thykier (The Debt), and Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick-Ass).

 

 

Filming commenced on the 23rd January and continued for 7 weeks on location in London and at Elstree Studios. Produced by MARV productions, the project is being internationally sold by HanWay Films. It was distributed in the UK by Lionsgate. The film was selected for a GALA premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September to wide acclaim.  

 

 

RELEASES:

HARRY BROWN was released theatrically in the UK on NOVEMBER 11th 2009.  

UK DVD release - 22nd March 2010.
