St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold
The recent St. Trinian’s (2007) was made with the same irreverence as the original series, and this sequel is no different. The girls of St. Trinian's hunt for buried treasure after discovering their headmistress Miss Fritton is related to a famous pirate.
It saw the return of the same cast, many of whom are now enjoying a much higher profile, having had notable successes since the last film. Rupert Everett has starred on Broadway, Gemma Arterton’s profile had been raised by a number of recent films including Quantum of Solace and RocknRolla. Colin Firth has also had huge success with Mamma Mia! as well as winning the Best Actor Award at the 2009 Venice Film Festival for his role in A Single Man.
New cast members include David Tennant (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Dr Who: Blink) who will play the new villain and Sarah Harding (from the popular girlband Girls Aloud).
St Trinian's is an established commercial brand on which this latest production intends to build. The most recent 2007 remake recouped its entire £7m production budget on the profits from its Uk theatrical release alone. In addition to its huge UK success, the film has registered good sales in a number of territories.
